A macOS update are small updates to the current version of your macOS. (Example: 10.14.5 to 10.14.6).

    • UNW IT Department allows end users to update their UNW Mac at any time through the UNW Self-Service Application.

A macOS upgrade is a large update that changes the version of your macOS. (Example 10.14 to 10.15)

    • UNW IT Department will release the upgrade of macOS after it has been tested and verified working with all other UNW software and systems. This is also done through the UNW Self Service Application.

How to Update macOS Manually

  1. Log into your macOS device and open the UNW Self-Service
  2. On the left-side, click on the Software Updates category
  3. Under the Update macOS click the Update button.
  4. A prompt will show up explaining the update process works and how a reboot will be required.
  5. After the updates are complete, a box will appear stating that the computer will reboot in 5 minutes.
  6. Save any work and quit out of any applications that may be running.
  7. After 5 minutes your computer will reboot
  8. After the reboot completes, you are now ready to go.

How to Upgrade macOS Manually

  4. A prompt will show up explaining the upgrade process works and how a reboot will be required.
  5. After the upgrade is complete, a box will appear stating that the computer will reboot in 5 minutes.
  6. Save any work and quit out of any applications that may be running.
  7. After 5 minutes your computer will reboot
  8. After the reboot completes, you are now ready to go.
